Cage of Death at Crocosaurus Cove

Which famous crocodile resides in Darwin’s Crocosaurus Cove?

Crocosaurus Cove, located in the heart of Darwin city, is the ultimate place to get up close and personal with Australia’s most ferocious beast, the saltwater crocodile!

Cage of Death at Crocosaurus Cove

But luckily for us, we don’t have to get too close to them, with the opportunity to experience a once-in-a-lifetime crocodile dive in the aptly named “Cage of Death”.

This incredible experience lowers you down into a fully protective cage immersed in these prehistoric predators’ enclosure, with the likes of the world famous Wendell, William, Kate, Leo and Axel circling your cage as they laze about awaiting their next meal!

Those five crocs may be the starring attraction of the Cage of Death, but Crocosaurus Cove’s most famous scaly resident is the legendary Burt, now at an impressive 80+ years young.

Burt is famous for appearing in everyone’s favourite Ozploitation film, Crocodile Dundee, as well as providing the basis for the digital croc horror, Rogue. Today, Burt is a retired film star, and is known for being a bit of a grumpy old fella, but he is still the cove’s most famous resident, with the type of charisma that makes the salty such an endearing yet fearsome animal!

Crocosaurus Cove is one of the ultimate, thrill seeking attractions of vibrant Darwin city, and should be enjoyed alongside these slightly more relaxing activities…

Night markets, of course!

Darwin may be famed as the launchpad to the incredible Kakadu and Litchfield national parks, but there is another thing that has really put it on the tourist map in recent years: night markets.

Darwin is the ideal place for amazing night markets, with a balmy mid-year temperature and abundant cultural influences creating the perfect town for getting a delicious meal in a vibrant tropical setting.

No dry season visit to Darwin is complete with dinner at the Mindil Beach Markets, a gorgeous open-air market on the beach with delightful cuisine from every corner of the globe. Grab a plate of delicious tucker, take your spot on the shoreline, and enjoy the gorgeous sunset that envelops this sublime beach.

Take a dip at the Darwin City Lagoon

Darwin can get pretty toasty even in the cooler months, so it was only fair for the city to create an uber refreshing city lagoon – the perfect place to take a dip after a day’s toasty tropical exploring!
