A natural swimming hole hugged by orange sandstone, Buley Rockhole is the ultimate spot for a cool-off.
A couple of hours’ drive from Darwin is Litchfield National Park. Full of (not-so-secret) waterfalls and gorgeous pools perfect for a quick dip, this National Park is home to the beautiful Buley Rockhole.
A 2-meter swimming pool surrounded by red rock, the Buley Rockhole offers a swimming sanctuary. It’s safe enough to swim, and it’s a popular spot with locals and tourists alike.
A cascade of water flows into the Rockhole, offering swimmers a relaxing soundtrack to their day amongst nature. Waterfalls flow over the rocks and provide nature’s spa, soundtracked by the beautiful sound of softly falling water. A flatter surface of rock walls the swimming hole, holding the water inside.
Can I swim in Buley Hole?
Yes! It’s safe to swim and offers a relaxing natural spa amongst the Northern Territory’s staple red rocks and exciting bushland.
The Rockhole is best visited from October until May, when it’s dry season. This is when the pool is best enjoyed, as it offers a cool oasis on a warm day. It is open all year though.
